Job Summary
MathWorks Finance and Operations team is looking for an experienced, hands-on, and collaborative individual to manage Revenue accounting and controls (RAC) Finance Operations within EMEA. They will oversee all EMEA operations related to revenue processing, invoicing and reporting and will work collaboratively with the European Controllers in a matrix organization to support the EMEA Finance operations. The role requires a strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS and related revenue, deferred revenue, and VAT accounting principles to support accurate EMEA operations. The EMEA Revenue Manager will have up to 15 direct and indirect reports throughout EMEA.
The EMEA Revenue Manager will report to the local Director of Finance with a dotted line to Finance Managers throughout Europe. They will partner with them to provide operational guidance to Sales Management of a €uro 400 million +, growing organization. The ideal candidate will have solid management and financial systems skills as well as intercultural experience. The position will be based in Galway, Ireland.
Responsibilities
The Revenue Manager will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the Ireland office and oversee the EMEA recording and reconciliation of > €400 million in sales orders, adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. Perform appropriate analysis and reporting to support EMEA business.
- Management: Lead and develop the Revenue and Controls (RAC) team throughout EMEA. Implement training and career development programs with the Ireland RAC Senior Team Leader to promote learning. Assess performance and provide data-driven insights to measure team effectiveness and efficiency. Manage within a matrix organization to align on priorities and drive common initiatives for the organization and indirect reports.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with Sales, Customer Support, Financial Systems, and worldwide RAC managers to improve workflows, while continuously seeking process improvements and waste reduction.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports including balance sheets, contribution margin, cash, A/R, etc.
- Business Model: Learn MathWorks system applications, licensing, pricing, account hierarchy, commissions, and compliance requirements.
- Systems: Collaborate with the Financial Systems Team to identify workflow improvements, address inefficiencies, support testing and training for system updates.
- Internal Controls: Adhere to controls to safeguard GDPR, financial data while ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. Support external and internal audit requests as needed.
- Indirect Channel: Lead financial and operational analysis of the indirect channel, collaborating closely with Natick management to evaluate distributor and reseller performance. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize channel efficiency and profitability.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required. 2 years management experience is required.
Additional Qualifications
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience, prevferably within a high-tech software company.
- Background in financial accounting. Chartered accountancy or CPA a plus.
- Previous experience in supporting a field sales operation in the High-Tech industry.
- Fluent in English. Additional language a plus.
Skills:
- Experience with order management, accounts receivables, sales operations, revenue reporting
- Proven management experience including performance measurement and hiring
- Understanding and exposure to ERP systems, including GL and CRM.
- Proven knowledge of sales administration and operations.
- Use of analytical and data mining tools.
