This book, Scientific Computing, is designed for studying and teaching courses in scientific computing. Fundamental algorithms for solving problems that arise from the mathematical modelling of phenomena in science and engineering are presented and discussed. Both theory and practical implementations of many scientific codes are developed in great detail. Each chapter contains many examples and problems to help the students to understand the material. Topics covered in the book are finite IEEE arithmetic, algorithms for linear and nonlinear equations, interpolation, least squares, eigenvalue problems, quadrature, ODEs and optimization.
The book contains many MATLAB programs which are used for numerical and symbolic computation.
