Automatic Report Generation in Model-Based Design

Globalization and the increased convergence of engineering disciplines pose new challenges for engineers communicating their design ideas to stakeholders. Automated report generation from software models can address these challenges and enhance process efficiency.
This paper discusses report generation within Model-Based Design, focusing on automation, document formats, templates, and interactivity. Using examples from different stages of the development process, it illustrates the types of information that can be captured from a software model and provides reporting best practices that can strengthen design processes centered on Model-Based Design.
